First Year of Business Informatics

After completing the introductory course I returned to Russia to start my first year of Business Informatics as a student of ЮУРГУ. I knew from the beginning that it would be an uphill climb for me as I would be studying in a foreign language, but a challenge I had no choice but face.

Beginning class I was introduced to my classmates who were all very welcoming and kind people. We easily became friends, and I always enjoyed their company, furthermore they never failed to assist me whenever I needed help.

Returning home had caused my ability to speak the Russian language to regress making the first few months quite difficult, but through great effort I managed to recover in time to see myself through the first half.

The second half of the first year started and we all returned to our studies, and were introduced to a few new subjects. The course was going well until the world was struck by a pandemic, the Corona Virus.

To avoid continuous spread of the virus, studies were taken online. For a foreign student, so far from home, the pandemic was a thing of great concern. Not only was I concerned with my own well-being, I was also worried about my family back home. A considerable distraction, but didn't compare to the struggle of studying within the confines of the hostel. Limited space was one problem among others that stunt studies.

A challenge I once again had no choice to face. It was easier to adjust with certain subjects, but not so much for others. Regardless it was a unique experience with unforgettable lessons of its own.
